Anxiety

Anxiety is a term used to describe feelings of worry, fear, and/or panic. Symptoms of anxiety are experienced in the form of anxious thoughts and/or through physical or bodily sensations. Anxious thoughts occur when the person thinks about ideas or situations that cause them worry, fear, or panic. These thoughts can be repetitive or even obsessional in nature, where the person thinks or worries constantly and is unable to stop or control the thoughts. Anxiety that is experienced in the physical sense manifests through panic-like symptoms, such as shaking/trembling, sweating, rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing or hyperventilating, difficulty speaking or having a ‘lump in your throat,’ or body aches, such as stomach, head, neck, or back aches and pains. It is common for people with anxiety to experience a combination of both mental and physical anxiety symptoms.
