Antisocial Personality Disorder

Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD) is a personality disorder whereby the affected person demonstrates a lifelong pattern of violating the rights and boundaries of others. These individuals often have problems with the law due to violating social norms and disregarding appropriate/acceptable behaviors. They often lie and manipulate others to achieve personal benefits and often demonstrate irritable or aggressive behaviors and extreme impatience. People with APD can be impulsive and do not consider the potential consequences of their actions, instead doing what feels good to them in the moment with little to no remorse for their wrongdoings. They are unconcerned with their own safety and that of others and this is often due not only to their impulsive behaviors, but also due to their chronic selfishness and self-serving behaviors. They tend to struggle with holding employment and overall have much difficulty maintaining any close relationships.
