Borderline Personality Disorder

Stress Management

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder characterized by unstable interpersonal relationships, low self-esteem, and impulsivity, beginning in early adulthood. People with BPD take extensive measures to avoid abandonment and can shift from thinking very highly of another person to strongly disliking them. They engage in impulsive or self-damaging behaviors, such as spending money, reckless driving, or substance abuse. People with BPD can also engage in self-mutilation or make suicide attempts due to their inability to manage intense emotions. They tend to feel extremely sad or anxious, can become very angry or aggressive, and feel chronically empty. These individuals can become paranoid when under stress and even disconnect from reality entirely.
